GENERAL INFORMATION:
• Each team is allowed 10 players on the field at all times (3 Girls Minimum); a minimum of 8 players with at least 2 females is needed to avoid a forfeit.
• A player may play on only one team per softball season (except for Sub-List players)
• All games are seven innings or one hour (warm up time included) whichever comes first. The last inning will start no less than 10min to the hour. The umpire is responsible for making the call at the top of the final inning. If a game is tied at the end of seven innings, extra innings will be played only if there is time. If there is not sufficient time (at least 10 minutes), the game will end in a tie.
RULES:
• A “strike mat” will be used to determine balls and strikes. If the softball touches any part of the mat or home plate itself on a legal pitch (6’-12’ arc), it will be considered a strike. The strike mat is only used for calling balls and strikes and is not considered part of home plate when a runner is trying to score a run If the runner touches the strike mat and not home plate when attempting to score and is tagged, the runner will be considered out.
• All Male batters will start with a one ball, one strike count. Female Batters will start with one ball, zero strikes.
• The Pitcher must pitch either on or behind the pitchers mound. (No more than 4 yards behind the pitchers mound)
• If a male is walked, and a female follows him in the batting order, the female has the choice to take a walk or bat unless the bases are loaded.
• A foul ball is considered a strike
• Everyone present on the team may bat. For example, if you have 12 players at the game, 12 players may bat, but only 10 may play the field. The ratio of men to women must be maintained.
• Only 6 players may be on the infield at the time of the pitch. If you have 4 outfielders, they must all be on the outfield grass until the pitch reaches the batter.
• Infield-fly rule applies.
• It is the responsibility of each team to keep score on the game scoring sheet while they are batting.
• Mercy rule applies if a team is up more than 10 runs after five complete innings (The home team will always get their final at bats). A maximum of 10 runs can be scored in any given inning.
• Leadoffs or stealing is not allowed. Runners may leave the base once the ball crosses the plane of the plate or is hit by the batter. If a runner leaves early, the ball is dead and the runner is declared out.
• If a team does not have a min number of players by 10min after scheduled game time it is considered a forfeit. If you know your team can’t make the game, please let us know by contacting [email protected]. If however, the opposing team wishes to allow the team to play anyway, the game is considered official.
• Base runner to defensive player contact will be closely watched by the ump. Any excessive contact or collision will result in an “out” and/or ejection. This includes contact with the catcher. Sliding is allowed. Any sliding into a base to break up a double play, or any intentional (in the eyes of the monitor) interference with the defensive player, the runner and the batter will be called out.
• 5 innings will be considered a complete game.
• Batting Order – Two Males and then a female
• If a game is called due to weather, and less than 5 innings have been played, the game will be restarted from the beginning at a later date.
• All eligible teams make the playoffs and are single elimination.
